چکیده

The structure–function relationships of a series of bistable [2]rotaxane and [2]pseudorotaxanebased devices have been evaluated across different length scales. The switching characteristics of bistable [2]rotaxanes and self-assembled [2]pseudorotaxanes, which can be controlled chemically, electrochemically, or photochemically, enable them to function as prototypes of molecular machines. The switching processes are operative, not only in solution, but also in a wide variety of condensed phases. The universality of the switching mechanism demonstrates that these functional organic materials can be incorporated onto solid metallic and inorganic supports for device applications, despite the fact that interactions at the organic substrate interface can influence molecular structure and function. Through iterative design–analysis feedback loops that focus upon fine-tuning device performance, based on molecular structures and molecule-substrate interactions, the fabrication of functioning micro-actuators, nanovalves and light-harvesting devices has been achieved.

Structural polymorphism in self-assembled networks of a triphenylene based macrocycle.

Understanding and controlling the structural polymorphism in self-assembled networks of functional molecules merit special attention. In this contribution, we describe the concentration controlled structural evolution in self-assembled monolayers of a large triangular discotic macrocycle at the liquid-solid interface. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) reveals that the adlayers formed by an al...

Reflection and Transmission of Longitudinal Wave at Micropolar Viscoelastic Solid/Fluid Saturated Incompressible Porous Solid Interface

In this paper, the reflection and refraction of longitudinal wave from a plane surface separating a micropolar viscoelastic solid half space and a fluid saturated incompressible half space is studied. A longitudinal wave (P-wave) impinges obliquely at the interface. Amplitude ratios for various reflected and transmitted waves have been obtained. Then these amplitude ratios have been computed nu...

Propagation of Waves at an Interface of Heat Conducting Elastic Solid and Micropolar Fluid Media

The present investigation is concerned with the reflection and transmission coefficients of plane waves at the interface of generalized thermoelastic solid half space and heat conducting micropolar fluid half- space. The amplitude ratios of various reflected and transmitted waves with various angle of incidence have been computed numerically and depicted graphically. Micropolarity and thermal r...

Investigation of Vacancy Defects on the Young’s Modulus of Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Composites in Axial Direction via a Multiscale Modeling Approach

In this article, the influence of various vacancy defects on the Young’s modulus of carbon nanotube (CNT) - reinforcement polymer composite in the axial direction is investigated via a structural model in ANSYS software. Their high strength can be affected by the presence of defects in the nanotubes used as reinforcements in practical nanocomposites. Molecular structural mechanics (MSM)/finite ...

Elastic Wave Propagation at Imperfect Boundary of Micropolar Elastic Solid and Fluid Saturated Porous Solid Half-Space

This paper deals with the reflection and transmission of elastic waves from imperfect interface separating a micropolar elastic solid half-space and a fluid saturated porous solid half-space. Longitudinal and transverse waves impinge obliquely at the interface. Amplitude ratios of various reflected and transmitted waves are obtained and computed numerically for a specific model and results obta...
